SCS SB 155 -- Child Abuse and Neglect Reports

Sponsor: Mayer

This substitute changes the laws regarding the reporting of child
abuse and neglect. The Children's Division of the Department of
Social Services is required to expunge identifying information
from reports by mandatory and all other reporters that has been
found to be malicious, for purposes of harassment or retaliation,
within 45 days after the conclusion of the investigation.

For all other reports containing insufficient evidence of abuse
or neglect, the division is required to retain identifying
information for a period of five years, instead of the current
two years, from the conclusion of the investigation.
